I don’t believe the myth that education in itself improves social mobility (google it!). A mom proudly told me about her daughter’s interest in art.
Her mom and sis beamed proudly when we viewed her work and interviewed her! We then worked on compiling her portfolio together which she did beautifully. Next, I equipped her some skills in the showcasing her work. With the help of Eehiang Tan's emails, and a generous Arts educator and her friends, she started some sponsored painting classes, got into an exclusive programme and lots of art materials.
I hope that this will empower, enrich and weave social networks she and our families won’t have. A little gift from here while experimenting with paints:
